    Hi! I am Qunxi Zhu, an Associate Professor (tenure-track, Young PI) at Research Institute of Intelligent Complex Systems (IICS) (智能复杂体系基础理论与关键技术实验室), Fudan University, China. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at IICS. I received my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Fudan University, advised by Professor Wei Lin (杰青、教务处处长).

    My goal is to develop advanced machine learning models, foundational theories, and efficient algorithms that can understand and reveal the underlying mechanisms of diverse complex systems from high-dimensional data (Machine Learning + Complex Systems).

    Recently, my research interests includ:
  • Machine learning for complex systems: promoting the developments of complex systems with machine learning;
  • Complex systems for machine learning: developing advanced machine learning models inspired by the theories and methods of complex systems;
  • General topics: nonlinear complex systems modeling, reconstruction, and prediction; neural (learning) control; complex dynamical networks reduction; lightweight reservoir computing; Boolean networks; continuous-depth neural networks; continuous-time generative modeling; computational optimal transport; scientific/mathematical discovery.
  • My work, as the first author or corresponding author, has been published in top international journals such as Nature Communications, Research, Physical Review Research/E, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Systems & Control Letters, Chaos as well as top artificial intelligence conferences like ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, and AAAI.
